early crocus

The garden is calling me out to play these days. After such a long dark winter and a raw wet early spring we are finally getting  some lovely weather. As is usual at this time of year I am full of big plans, cleaning feeding and mulching the beds as quickly as I can.

Bird Garden  April 2015
As the beds are cleared out its a good time to look at the bones of the garden and try to notice the areas that need adjusting. I am getting to a place where it looks good even when its naked but there are still some weak spots, it takes a long time to figure out what will work where.
Turtle shell
I found this turtle shell last year and it resurfaced this spring
new mulch
I have at least one more weekend of hard labor ahead

Spring Cleaning

April 2015
My weekend work.
Spring, time to clean up, trim back, and mulch the gardens.
I like to find all the new growth and look again at the bones of it all.
I have noticed that this garden has a riverlike flow to the layout and the front wall can look like a waterfall. I like the idea of trying to play that up.

Accepted!

My piece got accepted into the Wickford Art Association's "All Media Other Than Photography" show. Thats kind of cool!
Not sure if I will go to the reception, I'm pretty awkward at those type of events...
and I will be able to see the show the following night when I go to the Photo Group's meeting.

Spring Breaking

A spike of hope!

I seem to be breaking free of my winter retreat a little, so I thought I would try this again.
It was a long cold season.
but life is stirring around us again
and I have begun to revisit the stones.
Awkwardness ensued
