Aug 3- New Movement

A different view of the world, today was our first excursion with our new kayaks.
I was trying to use Lar's camera (the cheap one, just in case) and this is the only photo I got.
I'm pretty sure the shape in the lower right corner is the kayak, but it might be a duck...
Anyhoo it was fun and we were out for nearly 2 hours paddling around.
I will have to figure out the camera for the next trip.

August 2- Rain and Rust

White Pine with drops
July was dry up until the end, then it rained.
If you listened hard enough you could hear all the plants singing.
This month is better so far, just enough to keep the plants happy.

Rust
I found this beautiful rust pattern on an old truck at work, I'm wondering if I can do some dyeing from it.
Its on a vertical surface so it might be tricky, but that pattern makes me think it would be worth the effort of working it out.

August 1- Bzzzy

fierce stripes
Its been awhile hasn't it?
Summer is flying past.
Words are a bit scattered at the moment so I will go with pictures and see where that leads.
I haven't a clue as to how comments work on this new template so my responses are lacking until I restructure it...apologies in advance.

Photo Shoot Outing

I'm pretty sure that I mentioned the Wickford Art Association Photo Group that I joined a few months ago... one of the main reasons I joined is that the group does outings to different places for photo shoots and I thought that sounded fun. Tonight was the first trip of the summer and we got some really neat weather!
A big storm passed through while we were out, gorgeous light and clouds.
I've been playing with the panoramic feature on the camera/phone
Tomorrow I will go through the camera and see what else I got!

A Taste of Elegance

Marble House, view of the back lawn and courtyard
Well our big night out evening was a complete blast!
The rear balcony of Marble House was decked out with awnings and tables for the dinner
and the courtyard was set up for the cocktail hour.
The dress was fabulous, and Lar looked very dapper in the tux
The weather was perfect too
Decked out in our finery

Phil  and Linda
It was a real treat to spend an evening like this, many thanks to Phil and Linda who invited us.
Handsome
The Newport mansions are sort of insane, these astonishing creations were to be used for summerhouses
now most of them are open for tours, it was fun to be inside for an actual event instead.
Entryway
I think both of us would do it again.

Silver Drops

So many storms blowing through lately, in between the drops we get lovely weather for a day or two, then back to the rain.
It is keeping me out of the garden for the moment which is probably for the best since I have an "event" coming up on Saturday and it will be nice if I'm not all beat up for it.
A friend surprised us with tickets to a formal dinner-auction-dance, at Marble House in Newport! It has a Great Gatsby theme!!
Tonight after a few chores I will be making a couple of adjustments to the dress and trying to spiff up my feet a bit.
I found myself a drop-waist gown covered with beads and sequins, I figured I will never get a chance to play dress up like this again so I went for it.
Hell I'm even spending money on a manicure, that is something I haven't done since my wedding.
With some luck I should be able to get some really fun photos of the whole thing, maybe even one or two of myself that are decent (fingers crossed, I don't often photograph very well).
It is a consuming diversion...
