4/60 days
Sometime last year I began this one. Today I added some beads. I think of this one as if it was a gypsy, dressed in a motley collection gathered over time. It is an egg-like piece of pink granite that has accrued layers of different colors in no particular order, it has an air of worldliness and adventure.
This is a new one, a nearly perfect circle Balanced in Tension, another Warrior.
I have spent some time over the last year trying to decide what these stones are. How to describe them...
They are equally made of what is present in the found stone and what is added by me.
There is a sort of discussion that takes place as they are created, between me and the stone.
They embody ideas and personalities, as small "beings", mini-archtypes.
They have stories and some are very dynamic interacting with me in the studio
I've come to think of them as a personal sort of Kachina.
from Wikipedia:
"A kachina can represent anything in the natural world or cosmos, from a revered ancestor to an element, a location, a quality, a natural phenomenon, or a concept. "
This is the way they function and the best way to describe them that I've found.
interesting concept that of kachina .
ReplyDeleteIts the best description I have been able to find of them...so far
