I'm still deciding what I think about this...

there is no doubt in my mind that I love certain aspects of it...

I think,

perhaps,

I have an idea of where I would like to take the concept further.

For the moment I will hang it up and consider while I work on other things...

I like the details more than the united whole and that is where it may change...

it's always a work in progress isn't it?
Hi Glennis
I think it is, I think I may be getting more comfortable with that idea too.
i wonder if the white is what you wanted ....... if so, then ok.. i get it.... but it seems to be needing some splashes(in italics) of color....going on the whole ocean theme... some waves (in italics) of color....???? just a bit??
I think the three shibori pieces are perfect and I agree that the whole diminishes their subtle impact.
My first impression was that the framing dominated the piece--the bars--a sense of imprisonment.
Have you perhaps played with the concept of a Japanese wallhanging. I'm thinking the proportions. Even though the central/major piece is usually proportionately much less than the whole hanging, it still dominates and the surrounding area is a frame that sets off yet adds to the subject of the piece.
Whatever you do, I'm sure this is going to be a wonderful, exciting piece. I hope it leads you to more experimentation with this very textural process. It's inspiring!
Hi jan
well for this piece I wanted to keep the color minimal, my focus is entirely on the sculptural shapes. The changes I am thinking of may include some minimal color though...
Hi leilani
what is making me uncomfortable with it IS the framing...mostly because of the color. I like the triptych-ness of it but you have it right the frame dominates the piece and reduces the impact of the sculptural qualities I want to focus on. Eventually I will do something about it (I have a few ideas of how) but I will really have to try some stuff before I make the change
