Nest #4 Completed

Done!
this is the first piece I've finished since the end of class. I'm exploring how the stone the nest and the connection between them relate to one another. This was a wrapped stone I had made years ago that seemed to relate well with the nest i had used as a reference piece.
More explorations are necessary...

Progress

The newest nest is growing, I have been distracted with prepping the house for the holidays, a different form of nesting.

I chose to build for a stone I had made previously, I'm thinking about how the 3 parts relate to one another

Exploring Nests-Working in a Series

Working in a Series

These are the results of my recent class work.
Each is a design exploring the concept of home as embodied by a nest.
I'm really pleased with the way it developed and plan to continue it.
The bottom four were the last pieces I did and I think the most true to the concept I had in my brain when I started.

Going Forward

Nest #4

I've been so quiet for so long its hard to begin using my voice again.
I recently completed Lisa Call's Working in a Series web class.
It was a wonderful way to jump start my practice but now its done and I will be using some of the things we practiced during the class to try to keep the series I started there going
As I work on it I plan to post my progress here each week.
Mostly pictures and a few words
I think it may get easier as I go

Realization

Months ago I posted the sketch for this.
It is finally tacked together and ready to join the dance.
I am taking my time to compose it all as well as I can.
There is much looking, then stitching, and looking again.
The rythym is like breathing.

Unfinished

I have begun to revisit some unfinished work, pieces started in jude's class a couple of years ago.
Explorations of weave, stitch and dye.
I prefer the look of hand stitching with the shibori so finishing these is taking some time.
Thickets are a theme in this one
Slowly tracing bare branches
I'm giving it a few stitches each day as the trees outside fill with leaves.

Expanding Focus

 Begining close up
Pulling back, seeing more
 Finding larger shapes
 Looking outward again
